The Hort Digital is a project developed at Citilab-Cornellà with the support of the Fundación i2CAT. The main goal is to help secondary school teachers use technology in their classrooms in an innovative way. Our approach to the project resembles a Living Lab for education; we began by working on the secondary school level, but plan to expand into other levels and areas. The initiative is backed by the Departament d'Educació de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Department of Education of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia).
We hold in-person meetings every month, and we also have a Ning-based social network where we interact, participate in discussions, help each other and work together. We believe that this collaborative and social approach, based on an involved and hands-on community, will have a positive impact in terms of breaking down barriers between teachers and students, helping teachers take advantage of the possibilities offered by new (and “old”) technologies, and supporting the new policies implemented by both the regional and national government.
