FIRST LEGO League is an International Robotics Tournament for boys and girls between 10 and 16 years old which takes place in a sporting environment. Each september a new challenge is unveiled and the FLL teams (of between 4 and 10 participants) from all around the world embark on a new adventure.
Throughout 8 intense weeks, they must resolve real problems via the construction and programming of robots using engineering concepts by drawing up a scientific project that they have to present before a jury. This tournament has been held annually since 1998.
Last year more than 130,000 youngsters participated, from 53 countries grouped into more than 10,500 teams from around the world.
Values and philosophy
When the boys and girls construct and experiment, are living the complete creation process of ideas, resolving of problems and overcoming of obstacles. The programme FIRST LEGO League brings together youngsters in a world familiar to them and helps them to establish a positive perception of science and technology. We relieve that the curiosity and natural creativity of boys and girls are critical qualities in order to develop opportunities and find innovative solutions to real problems which defy technology.
For this very reason we give an undertaking to strengthen their motivation in order for them to learn new ways.
